Sinquerim Beach is the southernmost part of the long Bardez beach belt, lying directly beneath Fort Aguada at the mouth of the Mandovi River. The fort's lower walls run down to the sea at the beach's southern end, giving Sinquerim a dramatic historic backdrop. The Taj Fort Aguada resort, one of Goa's earliest luxury hotels, occupies the hillside above. The beach is known for water sports, and operators here run parasailing, jet skiing and boat trips, including dolphin-spotting cruises. The sand is clean and less crowded than Calangute, and the views north along the coast are wide and open. Visitors often combine a swim at Sinquerim with a climb up to the fort and lighthouse. The waters can be rough in the monsoon, so swimming is best in the dry season. It is worth the trip for its blend of beach life and Portuguese-era heritage in one spot.
