Butterfly Beach is a small, secluded cove between Palolem and Agonda in Canacona taluka. It is enclosed by cliffs and forest, and is most easily reached by boat from Palolem, though a forest trail also leads there. The beach gets its name from the butterflies often seen in the surrounding greenery. It is known as a good spot for spotting dolphins on the boat ride and for watching crabs and marine life in rock pools. The cove has clear water and soft sand, and remains largely undeveloped. Many visitors come on boat tours that combine Butterfly Beach with dolphin watching and Honeymoon Beach. Because of its seclusion, there are few facilities. It is worth the trip for a sense of discovery and unspoilt scenery.
